Bladeless Lasik vs PRK Surgery - Traditional Lasik vs Bladeless Lasik - Femto Lasik

There are many methods to treat eye refractive errors, including RPK, lasik and lasek. In which, with the Lasik techniques include two types such as non-use scalpel and use scalpel).

Conventional Lasik vs Bladefree Lasik

Lasik surgery is abbreviated of Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis, includes two types: Conventional Lasik (or called Traditional lasik) and Bladefree Lasik:

1. Conventional Lasik

Traditional lasik surgery includes the following steps: creating the corneal flap by a microke ratome, correct the exposed middle layer of the corneal by excimer laser and then put the corneal flap back to its original position.

The medical literature about refractive eye surgery with lasik surgical techniques are generally described as follows:

Conventional lasik is a procedure to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. It utilizes the microkeratome to create a "corneal flap" of about one-third of the total corneal thickness. And then surgeon will use the excimer laser to reshape the exposed middle layer of the corneal. The corneal flap is finally put back to its original position to assume a new shape created by the excimer laser.

2. Bladefree Lasik - Bladeless Lasik - Femto Lasik

Contrary, in bladefree lasik surgery technique, a laser called Intra-laser is used to create the corneal flap. It is used to create the corneal flap by forming a layer of bubbles beneath the outer layer of the corneal with the use of rapid pulses of light.

And Bladeless Lasik is a surgery technique using femtosecond laser to create the corneal flap without a scalpel. Therefore, it is often referred to as bladeless lasik surgery, in other words, lasik surgery does not use a scalpel. And, it also has other name is Femto Lasik.

Bladeless Lasik is 100% safe. Bladeless LASIK definitely is safer for patients with thinner corneas.

Lasik vs PRK

The eye surgery by PRK is the techonique which does not create a corneal flap. But lasik surgery is a procedure to cut a thin flap (called corneal flap) by using a mechanical blade or femtosecond laser.

Lasik is a surgery that use laser to treat myopia, farsightedness and astigmatism and laser surgery uses impact below corneal flap, there is less risk of corneal opacity as old laser method (PRK). It has also been proven laser without damaging anything for components inside the eyes.

The difference between Lasik and PRK is: creating the corneal flap and not create the corneal flap.
